Twitter, a micro blogging service, is becoming an essential part of daily routine for many of us. It’s growing very rapidly. This also brings a lot of risk from hackers and its a big challenge for them to protect twitter from hackers. Yesterday they discovered about 750 Twitter accounts were broken into and had a link to a webcam site posted on the accounts.
It’s not only twitter, however it appears other sites and services have been affected by a similar attack. As a security measure, twitter had reset the passwords of the compromised accounts and removed the spammy updates. Their safety team is currently investigating the attack.
Twitter is recommending to have strong passwords which can help to prevent hijacked accounts. Twitter now offers a password strength indicator to help you choose a strong password when you sign up. If you want to change your password now you can do that here.
