AOL agreed to acquire Socialthing!, a social media aggregation tool that lets users track their online social communities and broadcast updates to them. The Socialthing! platform, currently in private beta, is integrated with 13 sites including Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Flickr. After the deal closes, Socialthing!, based in Boulder, Co., will be part of AOL's People Networks division.
"We’ll continue to work on Socialthing! …developing new features, integrating more services and building a better back end. But with these kinds of acquisitions come some really cool opportunities. Specifically speaking, we have a really cool opportunity ahead of us to integrate into some other AOL products that might change the way you see social aggregation. AIM is a really big target for us, both on the aggregation and on the publishing side, so you can imagine how excited we are to be able to work along side the team." said Matt Galligan, Founder & CEO.
Founded in 2007 by Ben Brightwell, Brian DeWitt and Matt Galligan, Socialthing! is a Boulder, CO based company that is finding new ways to interact with your friends online.
