Winners of Webware 2.0

Finally Webware has announced the winners of it's contest Webware 2007, the first user-generated Web 2.0 awards program to find out What are the best 100 Web 2.0 sites and services ? This program was kicked off in April 16, 2007 with opening of the nomination process.

Over the course of 20 days in May and June, the community of Webware.com users voted for its favorite Web applications. These are the results: the top 100 Web apps, 10 in each of 10 categories, determined by Webware readers and the fans of the sites that made the final cut.

These 10 categories for the Webware 100:
  • Browsing: Web browsers, extensions, widgets, and security
  • Communications: e-mail, chat, VOIP
  • Community: social networks, groups
  • Data: search, storage, backup, sharing, and sync
  • Entertainment: Games and contests
  • Media: audio, video, photo
  • Mobile: portable utilities and apps
  • Productivity: apps, business tools, commerce
  • Publishing: blogging, web content, design tools
  • Reference: Mapping, reference works, and education
There were more than 5,000 nominations for sites to be included in this awards program, which Webware's editors pruned to a list of 250 finalists. Users then voted on those finalists--there were 489,467 votes cast--to come up with these: The top 100 Webware sites for 2007.
