Google Released API for Google Finance Portfolios

Google announced the release of a data API for Google Finance portfolios. This means that developers can build financial software that could give you easy access to your portfolios on your desktop, homepage, or mobile phone.

The Google Finance Portfolio Data API allows client applications to retrieve user portfolio content in the form of Google Data API feeds. Your client application can request a list of a user's portfolios, retrieve performance and return statistics on an existing portfolio, query the positions and transactions in a portfolio, and create new portfolios and transactions.

Here are some of the things you can create with the Finance Portfolio Data API:

  • Desktop and website gadgets displaying and tracking portfolio performance.
  • Custom portfolio importers and exporters.
  • A portfolio analyzer or notifier.
