Metacafe® launched “Director’s Cut” Channel

Metacafe®, whose more than 27 million unique viewers each month make it one of the world’s largest video sites (comScore Media Metrix, August 2007), today launched its new “Director’s Cut” channel. Now live at www.metacafe.com/directors, the channel showcases short videos made for the interactive Internet medium that honor the art of storytelling and the craft of filmmaking.

“Short-form online video is a new genre of entertainment well-suited to today’s pace of life, enabling fans to enjoy a ‘media snack’ whenever and wherever they like,” said Erick Hachenburg, CEO of Metacafe. “The ‘Director’s Cut’ channel features some of the best original content in this new genre, short videos created and nominated by members of the vibrant Metacafe community.”

Adobe Systems is the current sponsor of “Director’s Cut” and provides information about Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 Production Premium software, the video production industry’s most comprehensive collection of integrated post-production software. The cross-platform tools available in Production Premium CS3 help video professionals deliver creative, innovative content for film, broadcast, DVD, mobile devices and the Web.

“Adobe designed Production Premium CS3 for filmmakers who have a unique story to tell and empowers them to tell it with best-in-class, post-production efficiency,” said Michelle Gallina, senior product marketing for Adobe Systems. “To feature Production Premium CS3 on Metacafe’s launch of ‘Director’s Cut’ reinforces Adobe’s belief that a new genre of entertainment will be crafted by the individuals who use Adobe software and post their videos online.”

Videos showcased in “Director’s Cut” are chosen from those submitted to the Metacafe Producer and Producer Rewards® programs. Registered members of the Metacafe community are invited to nominate or submit their favorite original videos for inclusion in the new channel. To qualify for “Director’s Cut,” videos must be narrative-driven, of high production value, and fall into one of the specified categories: Comedy, Animation, Documentary and Action & Drama.
